Meet The Team

Kenny Chu

CEO

Kenny is the founder of the Asian American Restaurant Association. He was honored with the President’s call to Service Award in 2014 along with a New York City Council Citation in 2010 for his contributions to the industry.

He began his culinary journey in 1979 where he immingrated to the United States and opened Harbour City in Queens, NY. He later transitioned into the import and export business where he founded Evergreen Food Trading Co. which has grown to the leading Asian Food distribution company in the US.

Peter How

President

Peter is the current President of the Association. He is a longtime industry leader with deep roots in Tao Hospitality and decades of experience in Asian Cuisine, restaurant development and Chef mentorship. He leads the Association in creating global opportunities for chefs, restaurants and culinary professionals around the world.

Ryan Von

Mentor

Chef Von is an award winning Chef with over 20 years of experience in the culinary industry. In 2024, he was crowned “World Rice Champion” at the world Food Championships, and is widely recognized for his appearance on Next Level Chef With Gordon Ramsay’s.

His career also includes cooking for A-list celebrities across Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York City, as well as serving as Executive Chef at Tao. Currently, Chef Von is the Owner of Chef Von & Mom in Scranton, PA.

Alexandra Donnadio

Secretary

Alexandra Donnadio is an award winning live fire Chef known for blending live fire techniques with global flavor. She has competed Internationally for the Association last year earning 3rd place at the international cooking competition in Taipei, Taiwan in the individual category.

She has showcased her skills on Gordon Ramsay’s Next Level Chef, as well as Bobby Flay’s BBQ Brawl. She is the founder of Iron & Oak Catering a live fire experiential dining company specializing in elevated BBQ.
